Benefits of Exercise

Everyone knows the basic benefits of exercising but here are also some different benefits that you might not know about! I’m going to give you a bunch of great benefits that you never thought you were achieving.

It helps reduce stress: Working out by getting on a treadmill or taking a class here at the club can be a quick way to blow off tension by boosting levels of brain chemicals like serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine, which are all soothing chemicals to your body.

It lifts depression: Did you know that burning off 350 calories thre times a week through a sweat-inducing activity can reduce symptoms of depression about as effectively as antidepressants? Well it does and this is because exercise can stimulate the growth of neurons in certain brain regions damages by depression.

Improved learning: When you exercise it increases the level of brain chemicals called growth factors that help make new brain cells and establish new connections between brain cells to help us learn. More complicated activities like playing tennis, taking a dance class or taking a Body Combat/Step/Attack class make you think more and provide the biggest brain boost. Classes like these improve your capacity to learn by enhancing your attention and concentration skills.

Builds self-esteem and improves body image: Seeing fitness improvements like running a faster mile or lifting more weight that you could before can improve your self-esteem and body image immensely.

Improved mood: Just how exercising can help decrease depression it can also just help improve your all around mood. After you work out you feel happier and more relaxed than you were before you exercised.

Helps combat chronic diseases: Exercising can help prevent or manage high blood pressure. It boosts high-density lipoprotein (good cholesterol) while decreasing triglycerides. This keeps your blood flowing smoothly by lowering the buildup in your arteries. Exercise can also help prevent type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and certain types of cancer!

Boosts your energy level: Regular physical activity can leave you breathing easier. When you exercise it delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues, it actually helps your entire cardiovascular system. When your heart and lungs work more efficiently you’ll have more energy to do the things you enjoy.

Helps with sleep: Working out can help you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep resulting in improved concentration, productivity and mood!

Increased Strength and Stamina: Every physical thing you do becomes easier which is immensely useful in everyday life when you exercise.

There you go! Some other benefits of exercising instead of just keeping your body in shape, toning up or losing those extra pounds!
